The scheme explained

Community Cash Points is the excellent scheme run by the Biggleswade Chronicle in which we give cash to dozens of local voluntary groups and organisations.

These local groups – churches, sports clubs, toddler groups and adult organisations – cut out and collect points published on page 2 of the Biggleswade Chronicle throughout the year.

Each point is worth the equivalent of 1p.

Participating groups encourage all their members and friends to collect the points every week and hand them in to each group’s nominated co-ordinator, who submits them to the Chronicle offices on a quarterly basis.

At the end of the year all those points are converted into cash. The groups can use this money to purchase an item, or items, of their choice. It could be new cutlery for the church hall, goal nets for a youth football team or raffle prizes for a charity group.

But that’s not all!

Every group that submits a minimum of 400 points each quarter is entered into a quarterly draw and the winner receives a prize from scheme sponsors Aldi Supermarket in Biggleswade.

Aldi also donates a big prize to one lucky group at the end of the year!

Information for co-ordinators:

Registration for the 2009 scheme has now closed.

Co-ordinators must submit their points by the following dates to be entered into the quarterly draw: April 4, July 5, October 3 and December 31.

(If you haven’t managed to collect 400, please do still submit what you have. Your points will still count – you just won’t be entered into the draws).

The final cash points will be published around the end of November – check the Chronicle for details.

You will then have time in December to collect all the points for your group, and these should reach us NO LATER THAN December 31, 2009. The draw will then be made for the final prize.

Once you have submitted your final points for the year we will be in touch, via email or post, to confirm the total amount you have to spend.

You should then purchase your item and submit the receipt to us.

We would welcome your receipt as soon as possible, ideally in January but NO LATER THAN February 28, 2010. Please note that you are welcome to purchase an item costing above your final total and submit that receipt – we will simply provide a cheque for the amount you raised with the cash points.

If you have any queries please email by clicking here  or call Jim Stewart on 01767 224407 during normal office hours.

Please note registration for 2009 is now closed.
