Caleb stars at regional finals
Mid Beds swim ace takes 13 golds
Ace swimmer Caleb Hughes sparkled as Mid Beds Swim Squad racers gathered a horde of silverware when they took on the best in the eastern counties.
Caleb claimed 13 golds as youngsters from the Biggleswade-based squad picked up 30 medals at the 2008 Regional Championships in Norwich.
More than 40 Mid Beds' swimmers qualified and returned with 20 gold, five silver and five bronze medals – and Caleb set 13 championship records.
Coach Vix Metcalf also highlighted impressive displays from Alex Raine, who claimed gold in the 800 and 1500 freestyle, Emily McConnell who won gold in the 100m breaststroke and Shauna Lee who won gold in 100m freestyle Kane Farrell also picked up a breastroke silver and bronze and Amber Swales, Helen Davey and Ethan Farrell who reached their first regional championship finals.
