Cycle ace shatters 25 year old record
Event eight in the Beds Road Cycling Club Evening League was held around the 11.3 mile circuit in wet and windy conditions - but in spite of this, semi-pro rider Ben Instone shattered the 25-year-old course record in 25 minutes 11 seconds.

The previous fastest were BRCC members, Noel Lille (an Olympic rider) and National Champion Ian Butcher, who recorded 25.19 and 25.38 respectively during the 1983 racing season.

Instone was followed home by Sam Hayes in 27 mins 12secs while third fastest was James Elworthy in 28.10.

The league leader is now Sam Hayes while James Elworthy moves up to second with Max O'Driscoll third, Maciej Weremko dropping to fourth overall having failed to start Thursday's race.
