Ex-manager returns as director of football
Arlesey Town Football Club has appointed former boss Nicky Ironton as its new director of football while Matt Corbould is to be the first team manager for the 2008/9 season.

Mr Ironton left the Hitchin Road club four years ago but has continued to show an interest ever since and has been to several matches during the past few months.

His appointment was made at a committee meeting on Monday night although it is thought that with the end of season reshuffle, the Blues could now find themselves playing in the BSG Midlands Division next term along with the likes of Bedford Town, Dunstable, Leighton Town and Barton Rovers although some of the league trips could take them as far as Bristol.

An application has been made for an all-weather, and two new grass pitches, to be located behind Arlesey's Hitchin Road stadium by way of a community project. It is being made by the football club (including youth and ladies sections), Arlesey Town Council and the Football Association.

On Wednesday, May 7, Arlesey Town Football Club will play host to the Gerald Warren Cup competitions under the Sport for People with Learning Disabilities banner.

In all 16 teams have entered two separate competitions for five- and seven-a-side. They will start at 10.30am and be played to a final and that is expected to be reached by around 4pm.
