Pendleton eyes sprint medal

Victoria breezes through quarter finals on Friday
Victoria Pendleton took a step closer to her second gold medal of the World Track Cycling championships today (Friday).

She sailed through the early rounds of the Women's Sprint at the Manchester Velodrome - qualifying in first place with a new stadium and national record.

In the second round the Stotfold cyclist beat Russian Chulkova Anastasiya and in the quarter final she saw off the challenge of Hijgenaar Yvonne of Holland.

The final rounds take place on Saturday.

Victoria won gold with Shazane Reade in the Women's Team Sprint on Thursday.
