County chasing 309 to beat league leaders
Bedfordshire's hopes of finishing their Minor Counties Eastern Championship campaign on a high were continually frustrated by the weather yesterday.
Chasing a target of 309 for victory against the league leaders Lincolnshire, Beds had reached 74-3 with just over two hours play remaining at Wardown Park.
The chances of a full four innings game were ruined by the complete washout of the second day when the game was well poised.
On Sunday, the visitors had been bowled out for 308, 80 of which came for the tenth wicket.
Former Notts all rounder Gareth Clough had made an unbeaten 75 with the wickets being shared around. Andy Roberts was the pick of the attack with 3-77.
At the close of play on the first day, Beds had been reduced to 32-2.
A late start on day three resulted in both sides forfeiting an innings in the hope of trying to force a positive result.
