Beds Intermediate Cup joy for Stotfold
Just 24 hours ahead tonight's UCL Premier Division re-run of the match between Stotfold and St Neots Town, the Rokermen's reserve team were in Beds FA Intermediate Cup Final action at AFC Kempston Rovers' Hillgrounds on Wednesday where the UCL side beat SSML outfit Ampthill Town Res 4-0 to make it a season's double.
Having wrapped up the UCL Reserves Division One title on Monday night, they got off to a great start when Ampthill's Ryan Welton's mishit clearance from a corner flew into his own net while Kane Dougherty worked the ball past the last Amps' defender and rounded their keeper to fire in a second two minutes later.
And when Scott Rennie's overhead kick back into the middle of the box from a free kick on the right was nodded in after 34 minutes by Dougherty, it was 3-0 at the break.
The SSML side pushed forward in the second half but a sweetly-struck 25 yard shot from Freddy Morris on 69 minutes made sure it was black and gold ribbons on this Beds Intermediate Cup.
