Stotfold Football Club's hopes of reaching the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup for the first time in its 61 year history were dashed by Ryman Premier League Tonbridge Angels in front of Roker Park biggest crowd of the season on Saturday.

In a tie brought forward for a 12.30pm start, the Kentish side were 3-0 up at half time and they added two more late on to deservedly seal their place in Monday's draw where they earned a trip to Ware.

The Rokermen actually had far more possession in the second period and they went close on two occasions, but the visitors – who play their football some two divisions above their United Counties League hosts – always looked comfortable when it mattered.

With Brad Gillham still not fit, Scott Waters was again called up between the posts. In fact, Waters actually flew down from Scotland for the game that morning as he is working up there refitting a shop!

Unfortunately for the Rokermen, Tonbridge were too strong and man of the match Jon Main grabbing a hat-trick, it was Hamid Barr whose first half brace really knocked the stuffing out of Ian Allinson's side.

So the Rokermen's cup run ended in a 5-0 defeat, but having pocketed £7,500 in prize money along the way, they can't feel too disappointed.

Now it's back to the serious business of league football and they start again on Saturday with a trip to Long Buckby followed by a League Cup tie at Newport Pagnell on Tuesday night.
