Clive Milton rounds-up the best of the action in the Michael R Peters Sunday League
Last season it was First Division side Houghton Conquest and this, Burnaby Arms, who have shoved Premier Division leaders Sandy Sunday out of the Harrison & Rowley Cup in the early rounds.
Burnaby beat Sandy 3-2 to produce the biggest shock of the round while elsewhere in the top league cup competition, Lawson Park Rangers beat fellow Premier side Partizan 5-2, with Charlie Betts bagging four goals and Mark Reed the other.
Inter Cople overcame Supreme again – this time 6-3 – with Chris Fry and Simon Pixley getting a brace apiece while Paul McKeavney and Aaron Izzard grabbed the others.
Oakley beat Old Hastingsburians for the third time this season, the score 4-0. The first half was a tight, goalless affair and while Old Hastingsburians took the game to their opponents, it was Oakley who broke the deadlock when Jason Goldman headed in from a free kick. Tommy Folye slid in number two and he scored again to make the game safe while Ray Patrickson added the fourth.
There was another surprise result when high-flying First Division outfit AFC Greyfriars lost 2-0 to 21st Century who can't win in the league. Century managed to field a full- strength side and could have won the game by a bigger margin but they were satisfied with 2-0!
Rakesh Gill scored after only five minutes with a stunning volley and while man of the match Marcus Ashby led Century's lively attack, the second was scored by Sundip Jhand who drove crisply home for 2-0.
And in the other H&R Cup tie, Clearglaze beat Houghton Conquest 2-0.
The biggest score of the day came in the Brian Craddock Jubilee Cup came from New Inn Biggleswade, who absolutely hammered BMC 12-0 which did reflect league positions. Barry Sells scored four, Lee Marshall managed a hat-trick while the others came from Lee Belcher, Ben Parker, Mark Wright and a BMC own goal. And as if New Inn needed it, a penalty was converted by goalkeeper Dan Hall.
Wootton Park Rangers fielded their 'cup side' and beat Ship Inn 6-3, although the Rangers cannot win in the league.
Kempston Con Club went through to the next round after beating Black Tom Rangers 3-1. Shaun Winconek put the Club 2-0 up in the first 25 minutes but Black Tom pulled one back from the penalty spot after Eddie Haddow up-ended an opponent in the box.
The second half became scrappy in the damp conditions but Robert Booth managed to find the net for Kempston with ten minutes left in the game.
Meltis Mexicans did enough to beat London Road Old Boys 2-0. Damo Hazelwood piled in a 20 yard free kick on the hour for the first Meltis goal and then Jamie McLennan produced a trademark tap-in to make it two.
The eye-catching game in the M&DH Insurance Cup was Renhold at home to Bedford Allsters. Renhold are doing well in Division Four and Bedford Allsters are unbeaten in Division Five. The result margin was perhaps more than expected with the Allsters winning the game 5-2.
Meanwhile Mowsbury Athletic were giving no favours to bottom club Bird in Hand from Lower Stondon, winning that game 7-2.
Bird went ahead but Mowsbury were 3-1 up at half time and never looked back. Amongst the goalscorers for Athletic were Jack Cordell and Chris Thorman, together with Matt Barnes who scored twice and Andy Klein who weighed in with another hat-trick.
Clapham Sunday eased past Bromham 5-0 after having trouble in the first half to stamp their authority on the game. Clapham scored their first with a lofted cross-cum-shot after five minutes but when the rains came they ran out easy winners.
Constant and Co Athletic Reserves also marched into the next round with a 4-1 win against Rose Biggleswade.
There were only a few league games. The only Premier Division game saw Queensmen fall at home 4-1 to Atletico Europa, which puts Europa top of the division by a point from Sandy Sunday ... but they have played two games more.
In Division One, Stewartby beat Newtown Rangers 3-2 which made up for Stewartby's loss to Rangers last week in the league. James Grandidge got Stewartby's first and then Michael Darnell scored with a long range shot to make it two by half time.
Newtown clawed one goal back but Tommy Dove produced a clinical finish to make it 3-1 to the Brickies. Kevin Smith should sign for Newtown as he conceded an own goal for the second week running to give Rangers a boost, but Stewartby held on to take the points.
There was another bad result for Eagle Heating in Division Two when Sharnbrook Casuals completely overran them 9-1.
In Division Three leaders Sears Morgan blew Salento away with an 11-0 away win. In the normal world, Wheatsheaf Flitwick beat Cranfield 3-0 to go second in the standings, and Harrold kept a clean sheet against Partizan Reserves who conceded twice.
'Tiggy' smashed home Harrold's first goal from close range, and then John Devereux scored with a net ripper from 16 yards.
There was a right old shock in Division Four where bottom club North End Astros finally won their first game hammering Hobgoblin Old Boys 6-3. No doubt it was the intervention of rain that focused the mind for the Astros.
Harpur Sunday drew level with Mowsbury Athletic at the top after beating Flitwick Eagles 4-0 while Caldecote Young Boys Reserves beat Embankment 5-0 to lift themselves up the table.
In Division Five, Bedford Rovers and Bedford Albion shared four goals and the points.
