Luton side inflict first defeat in final
Sandy's quest to add the Bedfordshire FA Sunday Cup to their domestic league and cup double was foiled at Arlesey Town's Hitchin Road on Tuesday where they suffered their first defeat of the season against Club Lewsey.

As two unbeaten sides, Sandy's man of the match Tom Hobbs sprayed the ball wide to David Lenton whose effort was kept out with ease by the Luton side's goalkeeper Joe Cook. But with the contest 13 minutes old, Lewsey took the lead.

Dean Whittaker was allowed to find teammate Mishak Cole inside Sandy's penalty box and as the defence appeared to freeze, he was able to beat goalkeeper Ben Houseago. The unmarked Jonathan Barnett should have doubled Lewsey's lead moments later but Sandy were back on terms in the 32nd minute.

A Michael Kinloch handball on the edge of his own penalty box gifted Sandy a free kick from which Hobbs punished them with a sweet finish for 1-1. Sandy's Gary Fil and Social's Garath Seeley then clashed as the tension rose, with both somewhat lucky that referee Mark Ives only showed yellow cards.

Hobbs then had defender Chris Hemmings panicking to divert a clearance over his own crossbar but with the 45 minutes up, Lewsey regained the lead. Harnaman's long ball found Barnett free down the right and with the Sandy defence standing still awaiting an offside flag, the Lewsey No7 cut the ball back for Whittaker who side footed into a empty net for 2-1.

The next goal would be vital but when Lewsey's Whittaker headed side three minutes into the new half, ten minutes later a long punt forward saw keeper Houseago calling to his full back David Fil. But when Fil's headed back and left the goalie rooted to the spot, the ball ended in the net with Lewsey now 3-1 ahead.

The two-goal lead lasted two minutes before a Gary Fil free kick saw Scott Cretton arrive at the back post to head home and put the final cup back into the melting pot.

Lenton and Hobbs both fired off target while at the other end, Houseago saved well from Barnett before Hanaman was flying anoyther one from range over Sandy bar.

A repeat of Hobbs' earlier free kick so nearly levelled the game but it was Lewsey who sealed the tie with a fourth goal 12 minutes from time. Danny Ryan leaped high to head home Leon Casliman's corner while Whittake's strike made it a nap hand and 5-2 just three minutes from time.
