Arlesey held too, Stotfold lose but Langford romp to a 6-1 victory
It was goals galore on the Seargents Lawn on Saturday as Potton United came from 3-1 down to earn their first point of the season in a 4-4 draw against UCL Premier Division newcomers Rothwell Corinthians.

With both clubs at the bottom of the pile, the visitors were a goal down after 21 minutes as Sam Johnson took advantage of a bounce inside the box while Tom Beech levelled for Potton to leave it all square at half time.

But goals from Andy Greensmith and Kevin Fox gave the advantage to the hosts before Jez McMurrough pulled it back to 3-2, Corinthians then adding what appeared to be a killer fourth courtesy of Jonny Bewers.

But a foul on Rob Cornfoot resulted in a 74th minute Potton penalty which Beech converted at the second attempt and, when four minutes later, Rothwell's keeper raced to the edge of his area to bring down McMorrough, Beech made it 4-4 to complete his hat-trick.

There were also plenty of goals in the Southern League game at Atherstone's Sheepy Road where Arlesey Town were denied by a last gasp spot kick in a tense 3-3 draw in which the Blues ended with just nine men on the field.

The Adders went ahead early in the second half only for Liam Beaumont to level shortly afterwards. Then two goals in as many minutes from Jamie Osbourne seemed enough to seal the points for the visitors only for Matt Waldron and Matt Clarke to see red cards in the 76th and 90th minutes with Storer converting from the spot for 3-3.

There was better luck for Langford who now top the SSML Premer Division table on goal-difference after thrashing Holmer Green 6-1.

The Reds made it three wins from three league starts with goals from Joe De-la-Salle, Lee Pateman (two), Danny Howell, Rob Groves and Matt Franklin while Dean Allen replied for the visitors.

However just up the road at the new Carslberg Stadium, Biggleswade Town were shooting themselves in the foot as they conceded twice to gift visiting Aylesbury Vale the points after Dan Heron had opened the scoring in the first half, last season's top scorer also missing a penalty.

The equaliser came from the penalty spot courtesy of Vale's Neil Roberts while their winner was scored by Vince Iannone.

Below strength Stotfold suffered their first defeat off the season on a visit to Long Buckby. The home side started strongly and took the lead through Carl Holmes with Ben Foster and Jon Crockett making it 3-0 before Neil Smith pulled back an 80th minute consolation from the penalty spot.

And at Hanwell Town's Perivale ground, Biggleswade United were to suffer a 4-1 reverse with Martin 'Marv' Russell snatching Nick Burton's sides consolation.
