Biggleswade United made it six Spartan South Midlands League points in two game this week with a 2-1 win at Second Meadow this afternoon against visitors Hatfield Town.
United had beaten Hatfield's 'landlords' Welwyn Garden City 1-0 in midweek an
d with first half goals from Kerran Birch after just five minutes and a second from Emanuel 'Mano' Langlais a minute before the interval, they looked comfortable at 2-0.
However the visitors dominated the second half and while Town's Stuart McDermott was to make it 2-1 in the 50th minute with a real 30 yard screamer, United found themselves down to nine men after two fell foul of double yellow cards thanks to an over-fussy referee.
At Forde Park Langford let a 3-1 half time Premier Division leads slip from their grasp against Haringey Borough, the visitors only being denied all three points thanks to a man of the match performance by Reds goakeeper Scott Waters whose four magnificent second half blocks saved the day.
The hosts were ahead after five minutes courtesy of Joe Delasalle while Charamablos levelled for the visitors two minutes later. Ben L'Honore then scored Langford's second in the 35th minute while Delasalle added a third on the stroke of half time.
However a 56th minute Haringey penalty scored by Opara made it 3-2 and the same played went on to bag the equaliser 20 minutes from time before Waters began his heroic afternoon as the Reds defence fell apart.
Following what was probably their best Southern League performance of the season against Burnham last Saturday, this afternoon Biggleswade Town suffered a heavy 5-2 defeat at Sutton Coldfield Town in front of 115 fans.
Brett Donnelly gave them a good start on eight minutes with the Midlanders equalising on the stroke of half time courtesy of Murrell. Ball then made it 2-1 to the hosts before Jamie Hall levelled in the 59th minute.
But a late hat-trick from Marshall in the 70th, 84th and 90th minutes saw the Waders faced with a long trip home empty handed.
There was better luck for Arlesey Town who returned to winning ways at Bedworth United. They were 3-1 winners with goals from Joe Reynolds on 36 minutes, Mark Coulson five minutes into the second half and Marc Leach who netted from the penalty spot on the hour, the Bedworth reply coming from Ramsay in the 51st minute in front of 140 spectators.
In the United Counties League, Stotfold travelled to Lincoln Road where they faced Premier Division rivals Blackstones and came away with a 3-1 win.
And at The Hollow, Potton United hosted Buckingham Town in Division One and had to fight back from 3-1 down to earn a point in a 3-3 draw.
Joe Aris gave United the lead on 31 minutes but Josh Mendes levelled for The Robins a minute later. Then goals from James Bishop and John Wigglesworth in the second half were cancelled out by Potton's Dean Hamilton in the final eight minutes.
