Referee abandons Saturday clash with St Neots before half time
Stotfold's derby match with St Neots was abandoned amid ugly scenes at Roker Park on Saturday.
Referee Dean Appleby called the United Counties League Premier Division clash off after just 41 minutes as trouble continued to flare on the pitch - two St Neots players had already been sent off.
At the time Stotfold were winning 1-0 through a Louis Lee goal.
Both clubs will now have to wait to see if disciplinary action is taken and if the game needs to be replayed.
The needle between the two sides was obvious from the start with early bookings.
Stotfold went ahead but a controversial penalty award to St Neots stoked the tensions, although Byrne's spot kick was saved.
There had been a couple of midfield melees before St Neots' Tony Russell was given his marching orders for a second bookable offence.
Inside a minute there was a major scuffle in which Luigi Rocco of St Neots was sent off for throwing a punch.
At that point the referee abandoned the game.
