Victoria Pendleton raced to gold in the UCL World Track Cup in Australia on Sunday.
Despite suffering from a cold going into the competition the Stotfold cyclist, regarded as Britain's fastest woman sprinter, added the kieren title to her growing list of international honours.
In the first round of the kieren, Pendleton did enough to make the second round after finishing second to Simona Krupeckaite of Lithunia.
In the second round Victoria once again did enough, finishing third to make the final.
Once in the final, she took up the position behind the derny, using her experience to keep an eye on her opponents on the opening laps until the derny was ready to pull away.
It was at this point that Natallia Tsylinskaya of Belarus made her move but the attack wasn't strong enough to gain her any distance and the rest queued up behind her.
Once into the final bend four wide, Victoria used her blinding speed to end the World Track Cup on a high and win the gold.
Victoria, raised in Stotfold and now training with fellow UK cyclists in Manchester, is now looking forward to a busy 2008 when she is set to compete in the Olympics in Beijing.
