Saturday wins for Reds, Town and United, Rokermen draw but Arlesey lose
Newly-crowned United Counties League champions Stotfold were held in a 1-1 draw by Premier Division newcomers Sleaford Town at Eslaforde Park yesterday (Saturday).

Lee Allinson gave the visitors the lead eight minutes into the second half but Brian Rowland's men snatched a point with a goal from defender Kris Jones a minute into time added on at the end of the match to secure a point.

It means Stotfold are now on 88 points with one game still to play this coming Thursday it's the re-run of that infamous abandoned St Neots Town match at Roker Park.

They are currently seven points ahead of Long Buckby and Desborough Town who have both finished their fixtures while at the other end of the table, Wootton Blue Cross' 4-1 defeat at Blackstones yesterday ensures that Potton United will remain in third from bottom spot and have thus avoided relegation.

In the Ryman League, Arlesey Town had to battle for the last quarter of an our at Great Wakering with ten men after skipper Ryan Oliva received his second yellow card. At the time they were 3-2 down but the final scoreline grew to 6-2.

The Blues went ahead through Leon Gutzmore but they went 3-1 down after the break before Rovers conceded an own goal to bring Arlesey back into the match, Oliva's dismissal then ending any chance of a fightback.

In the Spartan South Midlands League, third in the Premier table Biggleswade Town beat basement boys London Colney 2-0 at Cotlandswick with goals from relative newcomer Adam Bensuade and Brad Harrison while fifth from bottom Biggleswade United were in the same area close to the M25 where they beat Colney Heath 2-1 with a timely brace from Simon Catmur.

And there was also joy and three valuable points for Langford at Forde Park where a single strike from Luke Nichol was enough for the Reds to overcome Brimsdown Rovers and move them back into the top six with one game to go.

In Division One, Arlesey Athletic hosted promotion chasing Haringey Borough but they slipped to a 1-0 defeat which leaves Borough third but with games in hand on the two sides above them while Ath fifth from bottom but are safe having payed their last game.
