Saturday action: Arlesey draw at Brentwood but Stotfold and Biggleswade United go out - Waders in 4-4 league thriller
Arlesey Town are now the only east Beds club to stand a chance of earning a place in the next round of the FA Cup after the Blues managed a 1-1 draw at Brentwood yesterday (Saturday).
They will now replay their first round qualifying tie at Hitchin Road on Tuesday night.
The Blues trailed 1-0 when Sweeney struck in the 22 minutes but Jamie Osbourne conjured up a 72nd minute equaliser for Matt Corbould's side.
Ten man Stotfold made their exit from the FA Cup at Roker Park yesterday after going down 3-0 to Southern League Leighton Town in a re-run of the 2008 Beds Senior Cup final.
Having beaten the men from Bell Close 3-1 at Luton's Kenilworth Road back in May, it was a very different Stotfold team as injuries to key players meant that manager Ian Donnelly was calling up the walking wounded for this home tie.
In the end, when skipper Paul Donnelly missed a penalty just before half it was as if the hosts had surrendered as they already trailed 2-0 after goals from Peter Clifford (18 minutes) and James Hatch (34), the latter going on to bag a third five minutes from time, long after Stotfold defender Jamie
Taylor had received his marching orders for tugging Hatch's shirt as the last defender.
And it was the same 3-0 scoreline when Biggleswade United travelled to Ian Allinson's Ryman Premier side Boreham Wood in their FA Cup tie, the game watched by just 75 spectators.
In Saturday's league games, Potton United earned their first UCL three pointer of the season with a 2-0 win against Blackstones at The Hollow yesterday ... and that result took their unbeaten run to four games.
After a goalless opening half, new signing Dave Fisk netted the opener just 30 seconds into the new period while it was Jez McMurrough who added a second in the 82nd minute to lift United five places to 15th in the Premier Division table.
There were goals galore at the Carlsberg Stadium where Biggleswade Town were held in a 4-4 draw by Kingsbury London Tigers.
The Waders scorers were Adam Bensaud, Dave Daniels and Daniel Slack plus an 'og' while Cata, Douglas-Watson, Lansiquot and Zarchencko were on target for the visitors.
At Forde Park, Langford lost their 100 per cent league record as they were held in a 1-1 draw by Leverstock Green, although the Reds' unbeaten run of six games equals the club's season starting record.
After a goalless first half, Lee Pateman gave the home side a 47th minute lead only Jon Davies to level just 60 second later, the hero of the match being Leverstock Green's goalkeeper Graham Milner whose legs denied the home side a late winner.
And finally in Division One of the SSML, Arlesey Athetic earned another point from a 3-3 draw at home to Harpenden Town, the Ath scorers being Matt Gipson, Terry Lock and an 'og' while Bates, Shaw and Warner hit the visitors' three replies.
