Jury returns verdict at inquest into death of Langford man
A father of five was unlawfully killed during a fight at a Milton Keynes nightclub, a jury concluded yesterday (Thursday).

The finding ended a four-day inquest into the death of 35-year-old Simon McCarthy, of Station Road, Langford, in February last year.

The jury spokesman also reiterated the medical cause of death, saying he died from 'compression of the neck due to positional restraint'.

The court had heard how Mr McCarthy was held down by at least six door staff at the club in Xscape.

His family, including partner Jane Clements, said they are still 'very angry 'at the unnecessary loss of life of a caring father and partner'.

A statement, issued by their solicitor Robert Bedford, said: "The family welcome the jury's verdict today.

"But they know that this is just the first step on their journey to ensure that Jane and the children receive full compensation for a tragedy that should never have been allowed to happen."

After hearing the verdict deputy coroner Tom Osborne said he will be writing to the Security Industry Authority with his concerns about the training of door staff.
