Volunteer DJ nominated for Young People of the Year award
A TALENTED DJ who uses his skills to help keep youngsters off the streets and out of trouble has been nominated for an award.
Danny Kiteley, 20, of St Peter's Avenue in Arlesey, is one of the first nominees for this year's Bedfordshire and Luton Fire and Rescue Service
Young People of the Year awards (YOPEY).
He has been volunteering for the past four years – and could win £1,000 in the competition, with £2,000 to give to young positive role models who give to others.
Danny said: "I love music and I really enjoy working with young people. It is a lot easier to interact and help young people through music
"It's rewarding seeing the young people having a good time and not on the streets smashing things up."
He hopes that he can help others avoid the situation he found himself in, when peer pressure and hanging around with the wrong crowd got him
noticed by the police.
For Danny, the story has a happy ending, as the police put him in touch with Aragon Housing and started him on the path to volunteering.
