Hopbine pride of carnival parade

Biggleswade pub wins top float trophy
The Hopbine pub was crowned Pride of Procession at Biggleswade Carnival parade on Saturday.

The Drove Road pub was the winner in the licensed trade category and also scooped the top award.

The results were as follows:

Under 7s: 1 Dunton Pre-School, 2 Trinity Toddlers

Under 16s: 1 Lawnside Lower School, 2 Sunnyside School, 3 Biggleswade Scout Group

Over 16s: 1 Biggleswade Baptist Church and Churches Together, 2 Water Adventure Cadre

Decorated vehicle: 1 BATS, 2 Furzenhall Residents, 3 Biggleswade United U8s and U11s, 4 Pirouettes and Pullbacks

Licensed trade: 1 The Hopbine

Trade: 1 PSP Electrical, 2 Maxwells

Undecorated vehicle: 1 Cadillac, 2 Mini

Majorettes: 1 Shefford Majorettes

Walkers: Priority One, Massive Impact, Buzz Lightyear

The carnival committee would like to thank the Sea Cadet Band for performing, and their volunteers who ran the refreshment stall.

They also thanked the judges: Lynn and John Picton, Sue Singleton of Jewellery Box, mayor Peter Woodward, Clark & Rose, Saxon Valley Foods, Denise Raynor of youth council, Helena dressmaker, and Chris Chessum.
