Inquest opened after man falls from bridge
A man has died after falling from the railway bridge at Biggleswade Railway Station onto the platform below.

Officers from Bedfordshire Police, British Transport Police and paramedics attended the scene after being called at around 11am on Saturday morning (January 30).

The man, 69-year-old David Oldroyd from Appletree Close, died at Lister Hospital later that day.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: "The man suffered serious head injuries as a result of the incident and was taken to The Lister Hospital where he died later that afternoon.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious."

Trains continued to run but did not stop at Biggleswade for part of the afternoon, with passengers instead being taken from Sandy to Biggleswade by bus.

An inquest has been opened and adjourned by coroner David Morris.
