Pets at Home could be new addition to retail park
A retail park is set for a new addition in the shape of a new pet superstore.
Nationwide chain Pets at Home is expected to open a new branch in Biggleswade – thought to be on Biggleswade Retail Park in London Road.
The chain, which opened its first store almost 20 years' ago, offers a wide range of pet supplies, food, toys and accessories for pets of all kinds.
There are now more than 240 Pets at Home stores across the UK.
The company is in the process of advertising for senior staff to run the store.
The Chronicle contacted Pets At Home headquarters for
official confirmation this week but they were unable to confirm details before we went to press yesterday.
The Pets At Home website says that all staff members are fully trained in pet care and dedicated to the welfare of animals, and most are pet owners themselves.
The arrival of Pets At Home follows the news that clothing and homeware shop Store Twenty One is opening its doors at the former Woolworths premises in Biggleswade Market Square.
Is the arrival of Pets At Home on the outskirts of town good for Biggleswade?
Or is it another blow for town centre retailing?
