Set fair for family fun at the mill
Fun-packed weekend in store at Stotfold Steam Fair and Country Show
A fun-packed weekend is in store in the form of Stotfold's sixth Steam Fair and Country Show.
Arena events, fairground rides, and dancing displays are only some of the attractions planned for this weekend.
And the show has made it onto the television screen after BBC1's Blue Peter filmed at the mill this week with one of their presenters experiencing the terrifying Wall of Death.
One of the organisers, Peter Church, said: "We have been in talks with them for a while now about filming at the mill. One of the presenters had a go on the Wall of Death.
"I think they wanted to experience a kind of ye olde traditional setting, which is why they were interested in coming to the mill, and we were really pleased to have them."
Events planned for today include a sheep show, displays from an international stunt team, a Stevenage-based cheerleading team and St Mary's School dancers.
And tomorrow (Sunday) you can catch Kangaroos Gymnastics Display Team, Rockwood Dog Display Team, Wall of Death, Luton School Orchestra, and the biggest steam engine parade the show has seen.
There is also a Kids Zone with ferret racing, Punch and Judy, games, a pets corner, face-painting, a treasure hunt, and Scooby Doo and Spongebob Squarepants inflatables.
All proceeds for the show will go towards further work at the mill, which has been restored by a team of loyal volunteers following a devastating fire in 1992.
The mill, which was officially opened by Prince Phillip in 2006, will also be in action producing fresh flour.
And don't miss the Wall of Death display on Sunday, which is the only one left in the country with motorbike daredevils tearing round a vertical wall.
The show is taking place from 10.30am till 5pm today and tomorrow at the mill in Mill Lane.
Admission is £5 for adults, £2.50 concessions with under fours getting in free.
