Plans to create time capsule full of photos and memories
A history enthusiast is appealing for people in Shefford to get involved with a time capsule project after her hopes for a museum were left at a standstill.
Audrey White, 78, is appealing for residents to get in touch with all their old memories, which she hopes can be collected and put in a time capsule at the current health centre site in Iveldale Drive.
Mrs White of Great Hill, Shefford, has been campaigning for a museum in the town for years but the town council has been unable to find a suitable location.
She said: "It was mine and my late husband's aim to have a museum in Shefford.
"We were responsible for putting on two exhibitions in years gone by and talk went on from there about doing something more permanent.
"So the idea for some sort of time capsule is really a shoot off from that.
"I have been hammering away at the town council and Cllr Debbie Clark in particular for a museum and they have been very good, but unfortunately it hasn't come about."
Mrs White is hoping that if she gets a good enough response then a book can be put together with photographs and memorabilia of the history of Shefford.
She added: "Shefford really has changed a lot over the year, not just with the forge, but the railway station and other things, I think if everyone could get together and talk about their memories, it would be great.
"We are hoping to set up a meeting where people can come along and share their memories, giving the young people a chance to be involved as well."
The project is currently in its planning stages, but Mrs White and Cllr Clark would be interested in hearing from anyone who would like to be involved.
Anyone who would like to know more can call Mrs White on 01462 812083 or Cllr Clark on 01462 815963.
