Friend speaks of 'generous and beautiful' Laura Wood of Shefford
Tributes have been paid to a 'generous and beautiful woman' who died this week after a horrific car crash.
Laura Wood, of Pinemead, Shefford, died on Monday evening, August 18, after her parents had to make the decision to turn off her life support machine.
The 29-year-old careered off the C147 Southill Road in Cardington while driving to work and ended up in a ditch the previous Thursday morning.
Miss Wood, who worked as an administrator for Eurodebt in Bedford, was airlifted to Addenbrookes Hospital but was declared dead by medics.
Close friend and neighbour Jackie Clarke said: "I'm still in shock and in denial. There will be a huge, empty space in my life without her.
"It's that old cliche that you don't know what you've got til it's gone. I spent three days in hospital with her before she died and we were given a few glimmers of hope but she was brain dead so they had to turn the machine off."

Miss Wood was heavily involved in the HATS theatre group in Henlow and lived in Shefford for three years.
Mrs Clarke added: "Laura was beautiful, funny and always had time for people. She was a very special person who walked among us. She always looked for the good in people, she was a loving person and it was a privilege to love her and be loved by her.
Miss Wood, who was born in Hitchin, studied dramatic art at Coventry University and spent several years in London before moving to Shefford.
Her funeral is to be held at St Botolph Church, Aspley Guise, on Thursday, August 28, at 1.40pm.
