Get on board with carnival procession

SUMMER may seem a lifetime away but plans for the carnival are in full swing.

The organisers have now confirmed that last year’s route for Sandy Carnival will be altered for 2012.

This follows the expression of safety concerns with the route starting by the railway station. This year the carnival procession will revert to a route used several years ago.

It will start outside Sandy Upper School in Medusa Way before proceeding down Engayne Avenue and turning left into St Neots Road.

The floats will then make their way to the town centre and finally to Sunderland Road Recreation Ground.

The playing fields will house the fair and it is there that the presentations will be made. The theme of this year’s event will be celebrations, which will tie in well with the festivities surrounding the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

If you can help the carnival committee call Jan Shrieves on 01767 682247 or Max Hill on 01767 681469.
