Imminent decision about wind farm
DECISION day is almost upon us and the future of the proposed Langford wind farm will be revealed.
Tomorrow (Wednesday, January 5) the controversial plans will be discussed by Central Bedfordshire Council’s development management committee.
This follows The Co-operative Group’s proposal to site 10 wind turbines on land by Langford. If plans go ahead the group would set up a community trust fund to help local people support environmental and energy efficient schemes as well as an environmental education programme.
The group said that it has worked with the local community to explain the benefits of wind farms and to expel the myths about this method of tackling climate change.
But nearby residents have spoken out against the turbines, stating concerns that the wind farm would be only 700m away from the closest home.
Central Bedfordshire planning officers have recommended that the decision be refused because: “The development proposed will lead to excessive noise impact on nearby dwellings, particularly to those properties on East Road, Langford and especially to the houses east of the railway line.
“There is also insufficient information submitted by the applicant to formulate appropriate noise limits to enable the protection of residential amenity.”
The decision could still go either way and if you want to be the first to hear the news you can attend the meeting yourself. It takes place at 10am at the council’s Chicksands headquarters.
The Biggleswade Chronicle will also keep you informed of the latest updates.

Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at 09:58 AMWhat liars, Co-Op haven't even attempted to "explain" any of the supposed benefits of this farce of a scheme. Langford DOES NOT want this, and never will! Why can they not go and build somewhere where nobody lives, or better yet, put it off-shore, away from everyone!
