Local cereal giant Jordans, who has recently opened its old refurbished mill to the public, faced criticism from the Sunday Times 25 years ago when their Crunchy Bar was singled out for being too high in sugar.
Rosebuds of the roaring twenties
Built in 1874 on what was then known as Dog Acre Field, Rose Lane School or Hicks Pits College as it was also called, educated Biggleswade children for around 100 years up until its closure in the 1980s. Many older Biggleswade residents will recall attending it, or will have had parents or grandparents who did.
A precious parcel
Bryan Charman has been kind enough to share his collection of Campton FC’s old weekly bulletins – 22 newsletters which were written during the 1955-56 season by editor and club chairman Paul Reed.
Beware wide load!
These two Biggleswade photos come courtesy of Ken Page and show a Scammell tractor with a very wide mystery load travelling along Drove Road and past the Hop Bine during the 1950s.
