The Sunday school along the lane

Biggleswade's 'Penial' Sunday classes remembered

The year is 1950 and these children were attendees of the 'penial' Sunday school in Biggleswade.

The school was so named as it was held in the penial assembly hall - a prefabricated building which was situated in the lane that ran alongside Hicks Pits College (between Rose Lane and Brunts Lane).

Pictured are Sally Hough, Mrs Dobson, Annie Lovett, Eileen Albone, Pat King, Lennie Smith, David Cooper, Gillian Mander, Dorothy Woodward, Margaret Smith and Antony King Woodward.

Thanks go to Eileen Huggett for sending in the photo.

This story appeared in a summer 2009 issue of Memory Lane.
