VIDEO: Meet new residents at Wild Britain
Rescued terrapins settle in at their home ahead of the attractions official re-opening
A dozen new residents have moved in at the Wild Britain attraction in Wilden, and they have not had to shell out for the privilege.
Twelve rescued terrapins were introduced to the site on Tuesday (March 17) ahead of Wild Britain's official re-opening later this month.
Each of the reptiles was rescued from ponds and rivers throughout the country, and are thought to be have been released by members of the public who bought them during the Mutant Ninja Turtle craze of the 1990s.
Spokesman Andrew Green said: "Terrapins don't make the best pets which is why I imagine they were released. From small, cute babies, they grow to the size of a tortoise, need a large tank to live in and can live for over 40 years."
