Future of libraries being planned as survey closes
BOOKWORMS have completed more than 2,200 surveys about libraries.
Central Beds Council’s Future of Libraries consultation has now closed. It was part of a review to decide how to adapt the service and cut expenditure over the next 15 years.
Councillor Brian Spurr, executive member for sustainable communities services, said: “We want to make it clear that the council will not be closing any libraries. The Future of Libraries aimed to help improve the services which our local libraries offer, modernising them, making them even more accessible to the local community and encouraging more people to regularly use them.
“We need to find ways to save money and continue to deliver, improve and modernise a valued service.”
The council will make a final decision on the library strategy in the spring.
