A dreamy performance at Woburn

Shakespeare classics set the park alight

Here is a simple recipe for an awesome romantic summer evening.

Take beautiful sculpted gardens in the grounds of a 10th century abbey, add some strawberries and champagne and kick back on the sprawling lawns to watch one of the greatest love stories ever told - Shakespeare's Midsummer Nights Dream.

Performed as it was meant to be - under the stars - this superb open-air show at Woburn Abbey is also a celebration of Chapterhouse Theatre Company's 10th anniversary.

These Shakespeare specialists have performed all of his greatest works al-fresco, from Twelfth Night to The Taming of The Shrew, so expect theatre at its highest level.

Anyone who saw the company perform Romeo and Juliet at Woburn Abbey last weekend will be an exponent of just how magical theatre in the great outdoors can be.

With a large cast, spectacular traditional costumes and an original musical score the sun shone down on the Veronian scene.

So grab your picnic basket and get along to Woburn Abbey for 6pm this Saturday (June 27) for Midsummer Nights Dream.

Tickets cost 12 adult, 8 concessions. For more information call 01525 290333.

Now lets just hope it doesn't rain - come on British summertime.
