A world of entertainment will descend on a Chronicle Country town at the start of the month.

Shefford’s free summer fete will be held on Sunday, June 1 at The Memorial Grounds in Hitchin Road.

It will be officially opened at 1pm by Tracey Callender, head of Shefford Lower School. The Shefford gala princesses will also be in attendance.

There will be a display of classic cars and vintage motorbikes, pony rides, walkabout characters, a fire engine, balloon sellers and more than 100 stalls.

Local schools will perform in the arena. Fish and chips, cakes and a barbecue will satisfy your appetite.

From 5pm to 8pm there will be a music festival. Proceeds will go to the fund for a new community hall.
