Students at Robert Bloomfield Academy in Shefford have stunned audiences with an exceptional performance of Beauty and the Beast.

The students staged four shows, first performing to year four students at the academy before delivering three evening performances to parents and carers.

The individual and group student performances were of an outstanding quality and the positive feedback received has been overwhelming.

The students have rehearsed tirelessly since January with dance, acting and singing rehearsals and a whole cast rehearsal every Wednesday plus some weekend rehearsals, and their hard work and dedication really showed during the performances.

A total of 64 students were involved in the production and all of them had a really enjoyable time performing to their families and friends. Taking part in the production also helped to grow their confidence and they developed valuable skills during the process including working as a team, literacy skills, knowledge and understanding of how to use the lighting (Tech Crew), learning lines, listening and communication skills.

Robert Bloomfield principal, Julian Axford, said: “Beauty and the Beast was a really successful production, and we were all so impressed with the sheer quality of the performances. It was a real team effort and showed how strong the Performing Arts are at RBA. I’m sure those who watched it will agree it’ll stand out in their memory for a long time to come. Congratulations to all pupils and staff involved.”

Tegan Davidson in year 8, who played Belle, said: “It was really nice to bond with all the year groups and help the younger pupils who were nervous. I had a really good time playing Belle and I love singing. The audience were excellent and made you feel fantastic. I felt very tired at the end!”

Evie Whybrow in year 8, who played Beast, said: “I enjoyed how everyone was so nice. I played a male character and everyone was very supportive. All of the students acted well.”
