Four rock and roll bands will take part in the Bedfordshire takeover, a music event which will provide a unique evening’s entertainment.

Pirate Radio, Tequilla Mockingbird, Speedshot and The Whybirds will perform at Club 85, Whinbush Road, Hitchin this evening (Friday).

Doors open at 7:45pm with music set to start at 8:15pm and those attending must be 16 or over. The concert will cost £5.

Organiser Roger King said: “The Whybirds and Tequilla Mockingbird got in touch wanting to do a show together and naturally we lept at the opportunity.

“They are both great rock bands with influences spanning four decades.

“We thought we’d stick with the Bedfordshire theme as there is something in the water in the county.

“This has left us with a cracking lineup that I can’t wait to see!”

All four bands involved have significant experience in the music industry.

Tequilla Mockingbird, a rock five-piece from Biggleswade, have been together since February 2012. Their music is loosely based around the blues.

They said: “We’d be lying if we said we didn’t want to get our music played all over the world, but really we just do it for the love passion and the fun.”

Pirate Radio are an alternative rock band bursting with passion and soul.

From the flatlands of Bedford, they boast a diverse sound colored with textures and flavoured with 90s grunge, and provide an alternative to normal chart acts.

The third act on the bill are The Whybirds, a three-piece band, again from Bedford.

Classic Rock journalist, Derek Oliver, said: “The Whybirds have it all; songs, musicianship and a sense of maturity that most acts of this kind can’t even comprehend.”

The Whybirds released their third studio album, ‘A Little Blood’, in November 2013.

Speedshot, who recently released their new album ‘Spit’ complete the line-up.

Hitchin venue Club 85 has become known as one of the top venues in the region, regularly hosting top touring acts including Palma Violets and Childhood, and acting as a launchpad for other local success stories, including the likes of The Subways, Enter Shikari and My Passion.
