Brave youngsters to receive club awards

Ill or disabled youngsters who have shown bravery in the face of adversity could be given awards.

The Rotary Club of Biggleswade Ivel is looking for children and teenagers aged from 11 to 19 who have shown exceptional fortitude in spite of their condition.

The club is offering the awards for a scheme operated within Rotary District 1070, and disabilities and illnesses can be mental, emotional or physical.

Rotarian Liz McCartney from the club said: “The young people will be identified by schools, charities, businesses and the public and then nominated for an award by the
Rotary Club of Biggleswade Ivel.

“We already have some nominations and would like more.”

The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Wednesday, March 12.

Friends and family members of those who are receiving awards will be invited, along with dignitaries from around Chronicle Country.

The club is also looking for sponsorship from businesses in the area.

Langford Garden Centre, Mantles in Biggleswade and George Hay have already signed up, while the Biggleswade Chronicle is also supporting the scheme.
