Biggleswade restaurant closes just six months after launch
A RESTAURANT that opened at a former pub premises has closed down just six months after it started trading.
Shunar Bangla in Biggleswade– which served Indian and Bangladeshi food and replaced the former Hopbine pub – shut down last week.
The Drove Road restaurant opened in August last year after a new management team took on the lease from pub company Greene King.
Part of the building was run as a restaurant and there was also a separate bar selling locally-brewed beers.
A spokesperson for Greene King said: “We can confirm that the Shunar Bangla restaurant, previously the Hopbine pub, in Drove Road, Biggleswade has closed for business.
“It will remain closed while we review our estate and the future of the site.
“At this stage we are unable to confirm future plans for the site.”
