Demand is for safer roadways
MORE needs to be done to improve the safety and flow of increasingly busy roads according to one pedestrian and driver.
Stephen and Irene Allen, who live in Sandy, believe that Central Beds Council should be planning more road improvements in New Road, Station Road and the junction with the A1 to cater for the predicted increase in traffic.
Once the Tesco store is open traffic consultants have estimated that there will be 5,000 two way vehicle trips along these roads per day. The future nearby housing development will also create extra traffic.
They have created a petition, which more than 100 people have signed.
Councillor Brian Spurr from Central Beds Council said: “We value Mr Allen’s input and we will take careful consideration of the petition which will be discussed at the next traffic management committee.”
The petition is in Gunns Bakery and Gilby’s in Sandy.
