New partner for accountancy firm

Chartered accountancy firm George Hay, which has a Biggleswade office, has recruited an additional tax partner.

The role is required following substantial growth and new client wins in recent years.

Phil Blackburn joined the firm at the beginning of February, having previously been the tax partner at an 11-partner firm in London. He brings with him expertise in the tax issues affecting successful companies, high net worth individuals, property matters and international and non-resident tax planning issues. He will be based primarily at the firm’s Biggleswade and Letchworth offices.

The move represents something of a full circle for Phil, who qualified as a Chartered Tax Adviser with George Hay before leaving in 1995 to join a London practice.

Commenting on his new role, Phil said: “I am delighted to be returning to the firm where I trained and qualified, this time in the role of tax partner. I am particularly looking forward to the high level of client contact that working at George Hay will bring, as well as being able to play a part in taking the firm forward.”

Senior partner Nick Willis said: “We are delighted to welcome Phil back to George Hay. He has accumulated a wealth of experience which will be of great benefit to clients and colleagues alike.”
