A community event will commemorate the Great War.

Featuring music, entertainment and a DVD, it will give everyone the chance to reflect on the First World War. The event will be held on Saturday, June 28 at Sandy Upper School and up to 200 people can attend.

There will be a short film about some of the people who gave their lives during the war. Then children and adults will read out the names of the people from Sandy who fought and died for their country.

Afterwards there will be a performance by Biggleswade Gospel Singers and a buffet.

Doreen Lawrence of Beeston has put together a special First World War quiz. Stuart Clements will then lead a sing along session from the keyboard. Words will be provided.

The event runs from 2pm to 6pm. Tickets cost £5 from Kennedy estate agents in Sandy Market Square.

Proceeds will go to support SSAFA, a charity that supports the members of forces and their families.
