Fifteen community groups have begun 2014 with a cash boost thanks to the generosity of one of Chronicle Country’s oldest firms.
Motley & Hope Solicitors celebrated 200 years of practice in Biggleswade in 2013.
And to mark the occasion it invited local worthy causes to apply for one of ten £200 grants.
The appeal through the Biggleswade Chronicle prompted a glut of applications - so lead principal Paul Motley decided to increase the number of grants to 15.
The successful applicants were invited to a presentation night at the Stratton House Hotel in Biggleswade shortly before Christmas.
The successful applicants were: NCT, Hospice at Home Volunteers, 1st Stotfold Scouts SA, Biggleswade Army Cadets, Biggleswade Sports, Biggleswade Town FC Youth, Dunton Recreation Association. Arlesey Voluntary Junior Club, Royal British Legion, Biggleswade Luncheon Club. St Andrew’s Lower School PTA, Gateway Club, The Avenue, Sandy Helping Hands and Blunham Teddybears playgroup.
Motley & Hope also made donations to town and parish councils. See a short video of the presentation night: www.biggleswadetoday.co.uk/video
