Countryfile is one of the most popular programmes on television and the very first Countryfile Live opened at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire on Thursday.

The four day event (August 4-7) continues this weekend and includes the show’s presenters Matt Baker, Adam Henson, Ellie Harrison, John Craven, Tom Heap and Anita Rani spilling the beans on what goes on behind the scenes, as they each take part in sessions in The Big Barn on the showground.

The event is spread across a huge area of the grounds surrounding the palace in Woodstock and includes a dog arena (pets on leads are allowed), an equine village, food market, art and photography area and a huge display of farm machinery old and new alongside vintage tools.

In the Village Green area there is a vintage funfair with Victorian carousel, maypole dancing, Morris dancing and country dancing, a bandstand, Punch and Judy and visitors even have the chance to roll a Stilton cheese.

Entry is not cheap, gate prices per day are £79.50 for a family of four, plus £5 for the car park and a further cost for the showguide, but you can take your own home made picnic.
