A school is celebrating its improvement after Ofsted inspectors rated it as a good school in all areas.
Maple Tree Lower in Sandy was visited by inspectors in May.
Previously the school had been graded as ‘requiring improvement’.
During the visit inspectors noted that standards in Year 4 had improved and were now above the national expectations. They also said children were making good progress and that standards in maths and reading for Year 1 and 2 were ‘securely above average’.
The report added: “School records show that there has been rapid progress in reading, writing and mathematics across the school since the last inspection.”
Teachers were praised as enthusiastic and the report also noted that they engage well with the children – which meant pupils enjoyed learning.
The report said: “The headteacher and the governors work well together. They are very ambitious for the school and have worked hard since the last inspection to improve standards across the school.”
Behaviour and safety were also marked as good,
