The freehold of a historical Chronicle Country pub has been put up for sale.

Licensed property agents Young and Smith are looking for possible publicans to run the White Horse in Broom, on behalf of Greene King.

The 18th Century grade 2 listed pub was previously run by the same family for some 20 years, but has traded under a temporary tenancy for the last two.

Offers for the freehold are now being invited in the region of £350,000 plus VAT.

The Southill Road pub is described as being a ‘traditionally rendered and colour-washed construction under a red, clay-tiled roof, in an idyllic rural setting overlooking the village green.’

The venue is ‘surrounded by both residential houses and cottages, as well as farmland and buildings.’

The pub is licenced to serve alcohol from 11am to 11.30pm from Sunday to Thursday, and from 11am to 12.30am on Fridays and Saturdays.

The front lobby of the pub leads into the bar area with tiled flooring, a front bar in two sections with a small L-shaped servery and a large feature open brick fireplace.

To the left is a raised, carpeted dining area with a further open fireplace and an adjacent corridor leading to the toilets.

To the right of the bar is a further carpeted dining area with doors to the kitchen and rear outside areas.

The kitchen contains many newly-installed items while upstairs the private accommodation comprises three bedrooms – two double and one single.

There is also a bathroom/utility room and a living room.

Outside there is frontage with two combination picnic benches and car parking.

To the rear is a small smoking shelter leading to a large covered area with flagstone flooring, five wooden tables and 20 chairs.

An adjacent large barn can also be used as a function room or for storage.

Beyond this area is a large grassy section approaching four acres in size, with outlook over the fields to the rear, used by campers and for marquees and weddings.
