Good neighbours scheme launches in Sandy

A good neighbours scheme has launched in Sandy to help local residents.

The scheme is particularly focused on the old and infirm who may be housebound or have difficulty getting about or accessing local services.

The group set up by Bedfordshire Rural Communities Charity (BRCC) will be initially funded by Central Bedfordshire Council.

It is operated by volunteers from the local community.

The group of residents will offer lifts to medical facilities, assistance with shopping, as well as helping with small household tasks such as fitting light bulbs, moving heavy items and dog walking.

The aim of the group is to do anything one caring neighbour would do for another.

All the volunteers involved with the scheme are fully security checked and carry personal identification.

You can contact the group Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm, on 07810 213935.
