A former Bedford Blues player is set to embark on a month-long cycle ride to raise money for Sport Relief.

Chris ‘Dumper’ Bailward, who made 140 appearances for Bedford, is set to pedal over 2,000 miles in the hope of raising a minimum of £2,016.

On his route round England, Chris will visit every ceremonial town, in the country. Starting at Carlisle, Cumbria, and ending in Truro, Cornwall, he will be passing through Bedford on Thursday, June 16.

Dumper, who now describes himself as a “67-year-old farmer”, hopes supporters will join him at to Goldington Road. The ground will be open from 11am, with refreshments available from Nos’s Nosh and the Blues bar.

Blues President Gareth Davies, ex-England Captain Budge Rogers and other former players, will ride with him towards Sandy along the Cycle Trail. The ‘peloton’ should depart Goldington Road at around 12.15pm and if you want to join in, just turn up with your bike.
