107 - and still going strong!

Cople's Margaret Fish marks milestone

A woman who turned 107 this week has received her fourth telegram from the Queen, wishing her Happy Birthday.

Margaret Fish, of Northill Road, Cople, celebrated her birthday on Tuesday, March 7 by having a tea party at her home with her friends and family.

And last Sunday, All Saints Church in Cople threw her a garden party.

Margaret was born in 1899 in Bow in London. She met her husband, Frank Fish, during the Second World War when he was on leave from serving in France.

Frank and Margaret had two children, Barbara, 68, and, Elsie, 66. Barbara gave her parents one granddaughter, Alison, 38, who has a son, Edward, four.

In 1971 Frank and Margaret moved to a bungalow in Cople to be near their daughter, Barbara.

Frank died in 1987, aged 89, from a heart and lung condition, and Margaret remained in the bungalow they shared until two years ago.
