Dave says thanks to conservationists for keeping him active
Nature work volunteer Dave Sharman proved he is a glass act when he presented this stunning stained glass kingfisher to conservationist friends.
Dave, of Falcon Close, Sandy has been a volunteer with the Ivel and Ouse Countryside Project for seven years.
He handed over the piece of art, which won a prize in a national arts and crafts competition, to Project staff at their base in Old Warden.
A kingfisher is the logo for the Ivel and Ouse Countryside Project.
Dave said: "I wanted to thank the Project for helping me to keep fit and active, and for the many good friends I have made volunteering over the last seven years."
And at 70, he said he is looking forward to many more years with the Project.
Over the last eight years the Ivel Valley Conservation Volunteer team have completed more than 12,000 hours of work – equivalent to 70,000 of enhancements.
The volunteer group currently has European funding to provide skills training and experience to students and job-seekers. To find out more, or if you want to become a volunteer, call operations manager Cliff Andrews on 01767 626326.
