The A1 was partly closed near Biggleswade for nearly three hours following a collision.

A lorry and a Range Rover collided on the northbound carriageway between the Langford and Astwick turns.

The incident occurred at 1.45pm today (Wednesday, February 26) and the road reopened at 3.30pm.

Although the Range Rover was badly damaged the driver was fully conscious and only came away with minor injuries.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: “We attended a man who we believe had fallen ill at the wheel of his car and subsequently collided with a stationary lorry.
“The East Anglian Air Ambulance, an ambulance, and two ambulance officers attended. The patient was taken to Bedford Hospital and he was not believed to have suffered serious injuries.”
