Will Brown and Ollie Bond

Will Brown and Ollie Bond

Two teenage musicians are through to the regional finals of a competition.

Will Brown of Blunham and Sandy’s Ollie Bond impressed judges at the Open Mic UK auditions in Watford.

Now 16 and 17 years of age, they are competing in the 16 and under category.

They said: “We play acoustic music. Some folk we like are Jason Mraz and Mumford and Sons.

“We have been together for one year in December and we are just starting to write our own songs.”

Both Will and Ollie attended Sandy Upper School. Will performs on the cajon, djembe and mandolin. He will play the cajon in the regional finals. Ollie favours the guitar. Both sing.

The regional finals are on Sunday, October 21 in Bedford Corn Exchange at 12.30pm.

The pair will perform their own rendition of Small Bump by Ed Sheeran and Break Even by The Script.

They said: “We love playing to any sort of crowd and can’t wait for the regional finals.”

Chris Grayston, events co-ordinator for Open Mic UK, said: “We are looking to find an act that has something unique to offer ...with both the ability to deliver a strong live performance but also potential to become a professional recording artist.”
