A West End actor is set to open a new charity shop.

Robert Daws, who currently stars as prime minister Jim Hacker in Yes, Prime Minister, will open Keech Hospice Care’s store on Friday, January 18.

The political comedy is running at the Trafalgar Studios theatre.

Robert, who lives in Ampthill, has played Dr Gordon Ormerod in The Royal, Roger Dervish in Outside Edge ,Sam Mountjoy in Roger Roger, and Tuppy Glossop in Jeeves and Wooster.

Most recently he has appeared in Rock and Chips and New Tricks for the BBC and as Doc Martin on ITV.

The new Keech Hospice Care store will be in the market square. It is the charity’s 27th shop. Money raised will be used to support children with life limiting conditions across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Milton Keynes and adults in Luton and South Bedfordshire.

Shop manager Linda Robinson said: “We are very excited to be opening this new store and we hope that everyone in the community will support us.

“Keech supports people from the local community. Most of the care the patients receive from Keech is provided at home or school so that families can remain together in their normal routines and the child is in familiar surroundings.

“If the family wish they can receive their care at the hospice’s purpose-built children’s unit near Luton.”

The shop will sell good quality furniture, bric-a-brac, clothes, books and toys.

Donations can be taken to the shop during opening hours and donors will be asked to gift aid their contributions if they pay tax. This will bring in more money for the charity.
